Somewhere on a Beach

Alright, Alright. Truth. This has nothing to do with with being on a beach. But it does have everything to do with good vibes, which is kinda the same thing.

Good Vibes only here. I honestly have a very difficult time when something drags me down. Ya know, tries killing the good vibes. I'm a hard core Enneagram 7 (not sure what an enneagram is- GTS (Google That Shit, JK...click this & find your number) & really struggle with the sad/negative type feelings. Most of the time I try to avoid them at all costs. I want to be happy & I want everyone around me to be happy. So, if you need a cheerleader, I'm your girl.

Anyway...here are some strategies I've picked up along the way to help me maintain the "good vibes only" homeostasis that I thrive in. It should be noted that 2012 was a rough year for me & I did not allow myself to feel that horrible emotion until recently. For more on a snippet of my backstory, click here.

1. Feel the icky emotion. Bless it, then TLC & No Scrubs that feeling. It's okay to feel it. It's not okay to stay stuck in it. Feeling are just visitors, nothing more. If you don't like them, you can politely ask them to leave. If you don't allow yourself to feel it, it'll eventually come out times 100 worse then if you would've just embraced the suck & felt it in the first place. Here is my story on when I finally allowed myself to grieve the loss of my father.

2. Plug into stuff that makes you feel good & adds value to your life. One of my favorite things to plug into is a Monday night teacher party on Twitter. If you are not on twitter...YIKES.It's been a teacher life save for me. Here is your formal invite to the party:

When: MONDAY 8pm CST

Where : TWITTER #tlap

Be there or be shark bait.

I'd explain why I love it so much or you can read this or you can just come to the party & experience it for yourself.

Personal Development books are another thing I love to plug into. Some of my faves are Dare To Lead by Brene' Brown, Be Real by Tara Martin, & Fail Until You Don't by Bobby Bones.

Listen to podcasts: Some of my go to's are Super Soul, EmpowerHer, & The Real Journey Show

Instead of watching the news or scrolling negative social media, I plug into this. Also, it's okay to unfollow a human who is posting stuff that kills your good vibes. Don't feel bad about it.

3. Replacing horrible habits with healthy habits that serve. Totally, know you are thinking "wtf" right now. Yes, yes, you are right. That "ish" is hard & soooooo very worth it. If you can figure out how to build healthy habits into your day & knock them out first thing, you've just set yourself up to Win the flippin' day. Just like that. You CAN do it. Promise!

Here is the run down of my morning.

1. Breakfast (usually oatmeal mixed with peanut butter & a dash of cinnamon

2. Read the PD (quick devotional - Love 100 Days Till Brave & What to Pray When You Don't Know What to Say)

3. Gratitude

4. Workout. Yep that morning movement is crucial to getting my day set up on a good foot. My workout usually starts with a dance party to set the tone. Teacher Fit Online is a fantastic resource if you are a human who needs some structure & accountability.

5. More food, scrambled eggs with Bagel Seasoning & Roasted Sweet Potatoes with PB & cinnamon on top. Don't knock it till you try it.

Healthy HABITS are cool because when you just don't feel motivated you have the habit established so you just do it because it's a habit.

4. This one is the Hawaiian Tropic to my tan. Are you ready?

If you read my previous post you will know that I am madly in love with my Journal Like A Pirate Journal/Planner. I use it as an action planning system to keep me moving in the right direction..toward the sprinkles. I'll give you a little teaser here, but you can read my previous post & just order the dang thing because it is pure magical.

So really when you wake up, ask yourself, " What are 1-3 things that I can do bring the best me to the day?" & do it.

You've got this! I promise & most important give yourself GRACE when finding your groove. Each piece of sand builds a beautiful beach & sometimes the sand gets blown around & creates something even more grand than what was imagined in the first place.

xoxo,

Lisa

PS. No one says that you can't quarantine & grow, yo
