During a conversation with a teacher friend it was brought up that another teacher friend stated, " I wish I could be as positive as Lisa but I just can't." Hold up....What does that even mean? I couldn't even comprehend what she was trying to tell me until I took a step back with some self-reflection.
I WAS that person that wished I could just be like whoever was super happy & chipper ALL. THE.TIME. The ones I rolled my eyes at sooo many times. Sorry for being a jerk. I probably even came up with a nickname for you...sorry again for being an asshole. I'm not glad about the events that came about to form me into the being that I am becoming but at the same time sometimes we have to spiral downward to see what we are really made of. But the truth of the matter is having a positive outlook on life is kinda like brushing your teeth-it's a choice that can only bring good into your life & probably impact others without you even knowing it. I mean, who wants to talk to someone who hasn't brushed their teeth...NOT me!
While hanging out in my fantasy land (my head) I came up with this correlation:
Living a UNICORN LIFE (a positive life) is a lot like brushing your teeth..
1. It's good to brush your teeth in the morning & before you go to bed, just thinking or writing things that you are grateful for. 21 days of gratitude WILL rewire your brain to see the world though a positive lens. Research says this so it is not something that I just made up.
2. If you forget to brush your teeth one day you don't forever quit brushing your teeth. You just brush them when you remember to brush them. Just like if you have a negative moment or day, you don't quit on yourself, you pick back up where you were & hop back on your unicorn. (this concept goes for fitness & nutrition too) It's ok to have a rough day. You are human. Even mermaids have rough days.
3. No one wants to hang out with someone who hasn't brushed their teeth. This goes for people who are ALWAYS complaining about this or that or talking negatively about this person or that person. No one want's to hear that cackle day in and day out.
4. Brushing your teeth is a daily CHOICE just like taking the steps you could take to feel good about yourself & to have the courage to remove yourself from the negative things you can control & doing your best to spread your positive glitter in hopes it will stick to the Debbie's & help them find their sparkle to share.
Don't get me wrong we all need to vent every now & then. Because we are human. Just don't get stuck in the chicken coop. And remember you are glitter & glitter sparkles-especially on unicorns. .
X,
Lisa
PS. Don't forget to subscribe & I'm currently working on an ACTION planner to help with the gratitude thing & any other goal you might think you want to slay.
